The Spring 2009 Cutting Edge Symposium on Pharmacogenomics

The Spring 2009 Cutting Edge Symposium on Pharmacogenomics took place between May 21-22, 2009. The Symposium included an afternoon workshop that provided clinicians, scientists and trainees with the tools and information to understand the basic concepts and terminology of pharmacogenomics. It also included an exciting dinner debate between Professor Rory Collins from the University of Oxford and Dr. Colin Ross from the University of British Columbia regarding the pros and cons of personalized medicine. The second day of the Symposium included lectures from renowned pharmacogenomic experts regarding their recent research and how it applies to cardiovascular disease and cancer. The presentation slides from the Symposium can be found below.

"The Human Genome" - Dr. Robert Roberts (University of Ottawa Heart Institute)

"Genetics of Single Gene Disorder" - Dr. Jamie Engert (McGIll University)

"Genetics of Polygenic Disorders" - Dr. Robert Roberts (University of Ottawa Heart Institute)

"The ABC's of Pharmacogenomics and Pharmacogenetics"- Dr. Guillaume Pare (Harvard Medical School)

"Introduction to Pharmacogenomics for Clinicians"-Dr. Colin Ross (University of British Columbia)

"Cardiovascular Applications of Pharmacogenomics"- Dr. Dan Roden (Vanderbilt University School of Medicine)

"The Pharmacogenomics of Anti-Cancer Agents"- Dr. William E. Evans (St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital)
